Dear University Team,
I am writing on behalf of Watersprite Film Festival, the world’s largest student film festival. Watersprite 2025 is set to be the biggest festival to date – with over 2,000 submissions from 103 countries. We are thrilled to have received films from students at your institution.
As you may know, Watersprite is a Charity supporting emerging filmmakers at the start of their careers. We are entirely free and offer travel, accommodation and access bursaries to all of our nominated filmmakers so they can attend the festival in person. Watersprite 2025 will take place in Cambridge (UK) from 7-9th March 2025 and will be a full weekend of free screenings, events and networking opportunities culminating in a prestigious Awards Ceremony sponsored by Amazon MGM Studios. There are 14 awards to win, from documentary making to music composition and sound design. Our alumni have gone on to win at BAFTA, the Academy Awards, Sundance and Cannes.
We are writing to ask if you would consider supporting the travel and accommodation of your students should they be selected at this year’s festival. We want to make sure as many students can attend the festival as possible, limiting financial barriers to make the screen industries accessible.
We will be announcing our nominated filmmakers in January 2025. Please do let us know if you would be willing to support any nominated student.
Alternatively, if you want to bring other students to the UK to attend the festival please get in touch as we will be able to reserve tickets and places at our Awards Ceremony on a first come first served basis.
Looking forward to hearing from you and if you have any questions please let us know.
All the best,
Amber
