About pictoric representastion of devocional sculptures

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze pictorial representations of devotional sculptures, based on an iconographic corpus covering a temporal arc that goes, roughly, from the 13th to the 18th to 19th centuries. His proposal is wofold: on the one hand, within what could be understood as a documentary approach, made necessary in periods when there was no more direct record through photography or video, to examine in these paintings the ways of using such
devotional sculptures; on the other hand, according to a more theoretical approach, discussing the image's own ontology, from its layers of figuration.
