Abstract

This article proposes the reconstruction and iconographic interpretation of the Procession of Ashes of the franciscan brothers of the Church of São Francisco of Sabará , Minas Gerais, Brasil based on the identification of imagens de roca attributed to Mestre de Sabará. The references of this procession, carried out in the 19th century, have been lost over the years, and the images that presumably integrated it, formerly representatives of its identity, are currently in oblivion, surviving under inadequate conditions and not very favorable to its conservation. Therefore, it was found in this possibility of reconstructing and interpreting a way to rescue his material and immaterial memory in order to revalue it.
