Many pieces in terracotta produced from the seventeenth century on, in Brazil’s northeastern,
have been attributed to the sculptor monk Agostinho da Piedade, but only four have the artist' ssignature. Our objective is to present moldings identified in the collection of the Sacred Art
Museum of Federal University of Bahia (MAS/UFBA), whose motivation for acquisition or
production may have been to corroborate with the studies of the artist's work. To this end, we
based ourselves on documental research, with a qualitative analysis of the data present in the
cataloging forms and a technical visit to the museum. We found ten plaster moldings and three
uncatalogued studies in pigmented cement. Part of these pieces came from the molder Jair
Brandão and entered the collection between 1959 and 1961. The others, produced by Manoel
do Bomfim, in the museum's conservation and restoration atelier and incorporated to the
collection in 1977.
