This article aims to present the partial results of a scientific initiation project entitled “Inventory of Brazilian Baroque Devotional Sculpture in the Marian Shrine of Frei Agostinho de Santa Maria,” developed in the Museology course at the Federal University of Ouro Preto. The first stage of the research involved conducting a survey of devotional images/sculptures related to the Marian Shrine, a work published in Lisbon between 1707 and 1723, consisting of ten volumes. For Brazil, volumes 9 and 10 are fundamental, as they deal with the images present in the main regions of the country during the colonial period. The basic procedure adopted to obtain access to the desired information was an inventory, through which significant data on the production of the images in technical, stylistic, formal, and historical terms were collected.
