DEVOTION AND RESTORATION:
THE PLASTER SAINT ANTHONY OF THE IORA FAMILY LOCATED IN CORONEL PILAR, RIO GRANDE DO SUL

This article presents the restoration process of a sacred plaster sculpture titled Saint Anthony, belonging to the Iora Family. The image is housed in the Saint Anthony Shrine, located in the Sete de Setembro community, Coronel Pilar, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The project was part of the outreach activities of the Open Laboratory for the Conservation and Restoration of Paintings, within the undergraduate program in Conservation and Restoration of Movable Cultural Property at the Institute of Human Sciences of the Federal University of Pelotas. The methodology applied in the restoration of this devotional image included an iconographic study, historical and social contextualization of the work, the restoration itself, and the return of the sculpture to the community in time for the Saint’s celebration on June 13, 2025.
